Hemodynamic Monitors - Electrical Cardiometry Monitors
Cardiotronic’s monitors are able to determine a patient’s hemodynamics in a completely non-invasive manner using Electrical Cardiometry™. Electrical Cardiometry (EC) is Cardiotronic’s patented algorithm, incorporated within both the AESCULON® and ICON® monitors. The AESCULON and ICON are very different but they are both referred to as EC™ Monitors since they both incorporate the Electrical Cardiometry algorithm for continuous measurement of several hemodynamic parameters, such as stroke volume and cardiac output. The EC Monitors are market released for use in neonates, pediatrics and adults and only require the placement of four skin sensors (iSense™).

The AESCULON is a comprehensive hemodynamic monitor. Along with EC Technology™, it also incorporates non-invasive measurement of blood pressure (SunTech®) and, as an option, pulse CO-oximetry (Masimo Rainbow® SET). Because the AESCULON’s integrates NIBP, SVR / SVRI and LCW / LCWI from CO / CI and MAP can be determined automatically. The AESCULON provides a database for managing hundreds of patients and allows for the data to be transferred to a USB flash drive and then to a separate PC. The AESCULON Waveform Explorer™ reader software runs on PCs and allows data export into ASCII format.
The AESCULON includes Pacemaker Clinic™, which is a special application used for aiding the optimization of atrioventricular or inter-ventricular delays in temporary pacemaker patients and cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT).
The ICON is a much more compact, stand-alone monitor and also can function as an ‘external module’ to a Philips / HP Monitoring System. The ICON allows the display of numerical and waveform data on Philips / HP monitors via a Philips / HP Vuelink interface. In addition, the ICON provides a serial interface for dumping numerical data to a PC using the iControl® reader software.
There is no difference in accuracy between the AESCULON and ICON and no difference in patient cable and skin sensors used.
